Sustainable Habitat Project

In Kenya, families and individuals living in urban informal settlements and slums spend up to half of their monthly income on housing. As real estate development push housing prices up, this urban population struggle to find places to live.

Project Highlight: 

With a goal of finding quality and affordable housing solutions to meet the informal settlement inhabitats shelter demands, CSUDP has patnered with the National Cooperative Housing Union (NACHU) to demonstrate the viability of a cooperative-led housing financing approach for low income urban communities.

Through this partnership,

  • Over 20 PHC’s have been established in informal settlements in five (5)1 counties.
  • Kshs. 503, 057, 076 million have been mobilized and leveraged for housing development for the members of the PHC’s.
  • A total of 1225 households representing 6,125 beneficiaries have been settled in the 5 counties
